TOP RINGED WET CYLINDER LINER

In order to reduce the emission rates in new generation engines, top ringed cylinder liners are used. This cylindrical component is attached to the upper area of the cylinder liner. It is then held in the correct position on the engine cover side. Top rings are smaller than the cylinder bore (piston diameter). For this reason, the piston prevents the accumulation of soot by scraping the upper dead zone in each cycle. It also ensures that the inner surface of the cylinder liner is not worn and oil consumption is kept to a minimum.
